Number of Jobs Published by Year

Below you will find a table with the number of jobs published in Jobs for Philosophers during each of the past 11 calendar years. The list includes positions listed both in the online ("web-only") JFP and the print volumes. The data do not take into consideration positions that were posted in multiple volumes of Jobs for Philosophers, with one exception noted below, under Number of Jobs Published in Jobs for Philosophers by volume. The graph beneath the table illustrates the same data in simple visual form. In 2013, JFP became PhilJobs: Jobs for Philosophers.

Number of Jobs Published by Volume

Below you will find the number of ads published in each JFP volume from 2003 to 2013. As mentioned above, some jobs appeared in multiple volumes of JFP, making the numbers higher than actual. The most common instances of such overlap are between the September and November issues of JFP, simply because of their chronological proximity.

In the case of the transition from JFP volume 194W to the continuous JFP website (referred to as 195), jobs that were published in both are counted in 194W only. Since 195 ran continuously from 2012 to 2013, we have broken it into jobs listed in 2012 (195A) and jobs listed in 2013 (195B). The publication date for web (###W) editions and online publications indicates the last day on which a job listing was published in that edition.

PJ:JFP refers to PhilJobs: Jobs for Philosophers, the merger of Jobs for Philosophers and Philjobs. Like the JFP website before it, PJ:JFP is an ongoing publication, and continues today.
