Submitted papers

A Colloquium paper session is allocated a total of 60 minutes
Colloquium papers: 20 minutes (3000 words)
Colloquium commentaries: 10 minutes (1500 words)
Speaker replies: 5 minutes

A Submitted Symposium session is alloted two hours
Submitted Symposium papers: 35 minutes
Submitted Symposium commentaries: 35 minutes
Speaker replies: 10 minutes


Invited sessions

Invited Symposia and Author-Meets-Critics sessions. are scheduled for three hours; Invited Paper sessions are usually scheduled for two hours..

The typical invited symposium is either two 45-minute papers and a 45-minute commentary or one 45 minute paper and two45-minute commentaries. In either case, the remaining 45 minutes of the session are for discussion and speakers' replies.

Memorial Symposia (focused on the work of a recently deceased philosopher) usually have three to five speakers with no commentators.

Author-meets-critics sessions most often include two critics making 45-minute presentations on an author's book followed by a 45-minute reply by the author. In some cases, there are three critics speaking for 30 minutes each.

Invited paper sessions are most often scheduled for two hours, with a 45-minute paper followed by a commentary of 45 minutes and the remaining 30 minutes for author's reply and general discussion.
