Central Division Poll on Meeting Sites

The Central Division Executive Committee requested that a poll on members' preferences for meeting locations be included with 2009 dues notices to all Central Division affiliates. The poll concerned meeting cities other than Chicago and includes all twelve cities at which the Central Division has met in the past half century plus five cities at which we have never met (Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Memphis, San Antonio).

Overall, the results of the poll show a strong preference for New Orleans, Minneapolis, and St. Louis; reasonable support for Denver. Milwaukee, Memphis, and perhaps Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and San Antonio; and a decided preference against Dallas, Houston, Columbus, and Detroit.

While other factors must be considered in determining meeting sites (among them ease of travel, availability of suitable hotels, and overall costs), the preferences of our membership are of fundamental importance, and the executive committee is grateful to the members who participated in this poll. This information was used in choosing where to meet in 2011 (Minneapolis), 2013 (New Orleans), and 2015 (St. Louis).

The Central Division Executive Committee wishes to thank Janet Sample and other members of the National Office Staff for their assistance in conducting this poll.
