The 2013-2014 Edinburgh Fellowship at the
Institute of Advanced Studies in the Humanities was awarded to Leemon McHenry
of California State University Northridge.
The 2013 Frank Chapman Sharp Memorial Prize for
the best unpublished manuscript on philosophy of war and peace was awarded to Michael
Skerker of the U.S. Naval Academy for Gunsoul:
The Moral Status of Combatants.
The 2013 Jean Hampton Prize, which honors a philosopher at a junior career stage who has a paper accepted to the Pacific Division meeting program, went to Jeffrey Helmreich of UCLA for "The Metaphysics of Reconciliation: How Forgiveness Relieves Moral Debt.”
The 2013 Joseph B. Gittler Award for
outstanding scholarly contribution in philosophy of the social sciences was
awarded to Lawrence Shapiro of the University of Wisconsin-Madison for Embodied Cognition (Routledge,
Taylor & Francis). The prize will be presented to Dr. Shapiro at the 2013
Eastern Division meeting in Baltimore.
