New Women in Philosophy Directory Now Online

The American Philosophical Association is
pleased to alert you to the new Women of Philosophy database, an online directory of
Over 1,000 women are currently included in the
directory, which is searchable by name, school, academic position, area(s) of
specialization, primary research interest(s), and geographical location. As
this is a crowd-sourced database, its creators are relying on the goodwill of members of the profession to keep it as
comprehensive and up-to-date as possible.
Any woman with a Ph.D. in philosophy who (1) has a job
researching or teaching philosophy, (2) previously had a job in philosophy and
is still active in philosophy, or (3) has published an article in a philosophy
journal or a book in a philosophy list is invited to have an entry in the
database. Please check to see whether an entry
has already been created in the database before adding a new one. Links
to edit an existing entry and add a new entry are located under the "Submit”
heading. Entries are invited for women philosophers both in the United States
I expect the Women of Philosophy
database to be an invaluable resource for conference organizers, editors,
hiring committees, and anyone interested in learning more about the work of
women in the profession.
The database was produced by a
team of volunteers with the support of the APA Committee on the Status of Women.
