Thanks to generous funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the American Philosophical Association is pleased to announce the new Diversity Institute Alumni Fund.
The fund subsidizes conference travel for alumni of undergraduate diversity institutes who would otherwise find it challenging to participate in philosophy conferences. Presenting at and participating in conferences is key to professional success in philosophy, and this fund was created to help alumni of undergraduate diversity institutes such as PIKSI, the Rutgers Summer Institute for Diversity in Philosophy, and others pursue these professional development opportunities.
The Diversity Institute Alumni Fund provides a maximum of $500 in travel subsidies per person per year. To receive funding, a person must be on the program as a speaker, chair, commentator, etc., for the philosophy conference or event in question, and must have participated in an undergraduate diversity institute in the past.
For more information about eligibility and how to apply, visit the Diversity Institute Alumni Fund page.
Applications are also now being accepted for funding from the Travel Assistance Fund for Philosophers of Color for the 2016 Eastern Division meeting in Washington, DC.
