There are just a few days left for nominations for positions on APA committees, the board of officers, and the new Graduate Student Council. The deadline for nominations is October 31.
Committees and Board of Officers
Nominations are currently being accepted for our twenty committees as well as for the position of member-at-large of the board of officers. For a complete list of vacancies, sign into the nominations system. The terms for these positions will begin on July 1, 2017, and most are three years in length.
All APA committee and board nominations must be made through the online nominations system. Nominations submitted by email, phone, or postal mail will not be accepted. Self-nominations are welcome.
Graduate Student Council
The new APA Graduate Student Council, which will be made up of 12 philosophy graduate students, will serve as a liaison between the graduate students in the discipline of philosophy and the APA, reporting to the board of officers on issues of interest, concern, and relevance to philosophy graduate students. The GSC will advise the board on how to best serve and support graduate students and may also take up projects of its own.
Any student associate member of the APA (including undergraduate and high school students) may nominate any graduate student actively enrolled in an MA or PhD program in philosophy (or a cognate field eligible for APA membership). Self-nomination is welcome and encouraged.
All Graduate Student Council nominations must be made through the GSC nomination forms. Only student associate members may submit or accept nominations.
Both nominators and nominees must be current APA members. If you haven’t done so already, please renew your APA membership online.
Service on the board of officers, an APA committee, or the Graduate Student Council is a significant opportunity for leadership in the profession and the association. Please take the time to nominate qualified candidates for one or more of these important positions.
