The APA is saddened to note the passing of Professor Anita Silvers (November 1, 1940 – March 14, 2019). Silvers served as secretary-treasurer of the APA Pacific Division from 1982 to 2008 and chair of the APA Committee on Inclusiveness in the Profession from 2010 to 2013, along with many other APA leadership roles over the last 50 years. She was serving as a member of the APA Task Force on the Status of Disabled Philosophers in the Profession at the time of her death. Silvers was professor and former chair of the Department of Philosophy at San Francisco State University, where she had been on the faculty since 1967. She also received two of the APA’s most prestigious prizes: the Quinn Prize for Service to the Profession in 2009 and the inaugural Lebowitz Prize for Philosophical Achievement (along with Eva Kittay) in 2013.
