The APA will hold two events related to undergraduate diversity institutes in philosophy at the 2020 Pacific Division meeting in San Francisco, CA. These events are funded by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

"Mentoring the Mentors" at the APA Pacific Division Meeting

Saturday, April 11, 2020, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. (approx.)

The Westin St. Francis on Union Square, San Francisco, CA

“Mentoring the Mentors” at 2020 Pacific is open to faculty and graduate students who serve as mentors of undergraduate philosophy students. The workshop supports mentorship in general but focuses on mentorship of students from underrepresented backgrounds in philosophy, as it was originally created for mentors of students participating in diversity institutes. Audrey Yap, associate professor of philosophy at the University of Victoria, will facilitate the workshop, which will include reflection and reading-based discussions, open time for sharing and brainstorming, as well as panel and speaker presentations.

To apply, please complete and submit the application form no later than January 13, 2020. Selected participants will be notified by January 31, 2020.

If you are not interested or eligible but know others who might be, please encourage them to apply!

Workshop participants will receive travel reimbursement up to $850.
