Earlier this year, the American Philosophical Association announced our new journal, which will publish its first issue in early 2015.

Last month, the APA board of officers unanimously appointed Professor John Heil the inaugural editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Philosophical Association. Heil’s four-year term will begin on January 1, 2014.

John Heil is professor of philosophy at Washington University in St. Louis and an honorary research associate at Monash University, working primarily on topics in metaphysics and philosophy of mind. "The impending launch of the journal affords a unique opportunity for philosophers around the world to participate in the birth of not simply another philosophy journal, but a preeminent philosophy journal,” Heil observes.

Appearing quarterly in print and online, the Journal of the American Philosophical Association will provide a platform for original work in all areas of philosophy. The journal aims to publish compelling papers written in a way that can be appreciated by philosophers of every persuasion. Under Heil’s leadership, a diverse and respected editorial team is now being assembled.

Heil is also pleased to welcome submissions to the Journal of the American Philosophical Association, and additional information about the submissions process will be available shortly. Visit the APA journal submissions page.

We look forward to sharing more news about the journal with you as its first issue approaches.
