Ruth ChangAt its meeting last month, the APA board of officers selected Prof. Ruth Chang of Rutgers University as the association's next ombudsperson for nondiscrimination. Chang will serve a three-year term beginning July 1, 2014, succeeding current ombudsperson Cheshire Calhoun. She is currently serving as a member of the APA's committee on the status of women

The APA's ombudsperson for nondiscrimination is the primary resource and point of contact for APA members regarding concerns about discrimination. The position was created by the board of officers in 1999. The ombudsperson for nondiscrimination is an ex officio member of the committee for the defense of the professional rights of philosophers, the committee on inclusiveness in the profession, and the committee on academic career opportunities and placement.

For more information on APA policies and complaint procedures related to discrimination, see the association's statement on nondiscrimination and discrimination complaint procedure.
