Register now for the 2016 Eastern Division meeting!

The 2016 Eastern Division meeting will be held January 6–9 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC.

Meeting Registration

Online registration is now open! You will be able to register online up to and including the time of the meeting itself, but please note that the advance registration rates end on December 23 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Advance registration rates are $50 less for all categories than rates for registration after December 23 (either online or at the registration desk). To register at the member rates, you must be signed in.

Please note: You’ll save an additional $5 on meeting registration if you don’t need a paper copy of the program. Our free meeting app for smartphones and tablets, which will be released later this fall, will contain the full program.

Meeting Program

The meeting program is available on the APA website. Meeting registrants will also have access to the full program, including room locations, in our meeting app, which will be released later this fall. Paper copies of the program are no longer mailed in advance but will be available at the meeting.

Please note: You’ll save an additional $5 on meeting registration if you don’t need a paper copy of the program. Those who go paperless will have the option to purchase a program for $5 at the registration desk.

Hotel Reservations

Hotel reservations at the conference rates can be made through links on the APA website. The room rate is $179 (plus applicable taxes and fees).

Please note: It is important that those attending the meeting stay in the conference hotel, rather than at other hotels, and specifically in the block of rooms reserved for APA meeting attendees. The reason for this is simple economics. The financial viability of the meeting depends on our meeting our contractual obligations, the most important of which (by far) is that we fill the number of sleeping rooms specified in the contract. Failure to do so results in a significant penalty, which, as a non-profit organization, the APA is ill-equipped to pay.

Interview Suites

As usual, reservations for interview suites are handled separately from the regular hotel room reservations. Suite reservations can be made online; the website has full details of the amenities in each type of suite.

Reception Tables

We are accepting reception table reservations and payments online again this year. Reservations by mail and fax will also be accepted. The charge for a reception table is $50; this includes a table at both evening receptions (January 7 and 8). Reserving a reception table is a great way for departments, committees, societies, and exhibitors to connect with attendees and gain visibility at the meeting.

Placement Services

The APA placement service provides interview locations and a system that candidates can use to apply to positions at institutions that are accepting on-site interview requests. When registering for the meeting, candidates should select the placement candidate ticket, which is free for APA members and $25 for non-members. One interviewer per interviewing department should select the placement interviewing institution ticket, which is $60 during advance registration and $80 thereafter. Interviewers and candidates must register for the meeting. Candidate numbers and folders are no longer used—please see the placement service webpage for details.

Travel Assistance

We’re pleased to offer two new sources of travel assistance this year. The Diversity Institute Alumni Fund subsidizes conference travel for those who have participated in undergraduate diversity institutes, and the Travel Assistance Fund for Philosophers of Color subsidizes conference travel for philosophers of color who are unable to obtain travel support from their home institutions. More information about eligibility and instructions on how to apply for funding is available on the APA website.

Child and Dependent Care Subsidies

This year, the Eastern Division will be offering subsidies to help cover child and dependent care expenses for meeting participants. Funding is limited. Please contact Eastern Division Secretary-Treasurer Andrew Cullison ( by November 15 with any requests for assistance.
