The American Philosophical Association is continuously striving to improve the climate for philosophers, departments, and the discipline as a whole. In 2017, the APA board of officers issued a number of statements in support of philosophy and on timely issues of public interest, including a statement on valuing public philosophy and a statement protesting the US executive order on immigration.

By making a tax-deductible donation to the APA, you’ll be joining your colleagues in supporting an organization that supports you—colleagues such as Sally Scholz, professor of philosophy at Villanova University.

The APA plays a vital role for professional philosophers. It sets the standards for disciplinary interaction and defends the rights of philosophers. Even more importantly, the APA affirms the value of diverse contributions and the inclusion of all voices in the field. The thoughtful statements provided by the APA on everything from interviewing practices to academic freedom function as powerful tools with which to bring about change in our department and college. We have more work to do, but I am immensely proud to be part of the future of our most important professional organization.
