Update 12:05 p.m.

For all attending the 2018 Eastern Division meeting, the convention center has opened up free wifi access for the day. The SSID is APA2018. There is no password.

Update 9:30 a.m.

The Blog of the APA has posted an open thread to facilitate communication and coordination between APA Eastern Division meeting participants and attendees.

Original announcement

Due to icy conditions, the bridge connecting downtown Savannah to the Convention Center is currently closed. As a result, there is currently no transportation available between downtown Savannah (including the Hyatt) and the Convention Center and Westin.

As a result of the bridge closure, many sessions will be unable to proceed as normal, as attendees who have arrived in Savannah but are on the south side of the Savannah River. However, many attendees are already at the Westin and have access to the Convention Center.

The Convention Center will be open and registration will open at 10 a.m. today as scheduled. Attendees are welcome to gather for sessions as scheduled, though due to these complications, sessions will likely be small and informal.

We are working closely with local officials to get the latest information about weather and transportation and will provide further updates throughout the day.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate this challenging situation. Please be safe, and stay tuned for further communications.
