Please note: This list is updated annually each summer.

 

There are many important APA dates and deadlines throughout the year. Below we have provided a summary of these dates and deadlines, separated into sections for meeting-related items, general APA items, and prizes.

These dates and deadlines are subject to change at any time, so be sure to check the APA events calendar and APA announcements for the most up-to-date information.

  • We've created a visual timeline for paper submission related dates and deadlines.
  • Dates for the divisional meetings are a good guide for future years, but many dates are variable based on the dates of each individual meeting (some are approximate, and some may be adjusted to avoid weekends or holidays).

8/1 Eastern Deadline to submit suggestions for invited sessions. Two calendar years before the meeting (for the 2026 Eastern Division meeting, submit suggestions by August 1, 2024)
1/15 Eastern Paper submissions open
2/1 Eastern Participants notified about invited session details
2/15 Eastern Paper submissions close. Please note: when this date falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline is automatically extended to the following business day.
5/15 Eastern Authors notified of decisions on submitted papers (on or after this date)
5/15 Eastern Invitation for chairs and commentators
515 Eastern Committees and groups invited to request sessions
6/15 Eastern Deadline for initial requests for committee and group sessions
7/15 Eastern Deadline for submitting program information for committee and group sessions
7/31 Eastern Participants notified about divisional program session details
8/1 Eastern Deadline for authors to submit documentation for student stipends
8/15 Eastern Registration opens (~4 months before meeting)
10/1 Eastern Draft program published online (updated through meeting)
10/1 Eastern Deadline to submit abstracts for invited papers
10/15 Eastern Deadline for A/V requests
11/15 Eastern Preprints published online
11/15 Eastern Sponsorship deadline (2 months before meeting)
11/15 Eastern Deadline for submission of program ad copy
11/15 Eastern Deadline for authors to send final papers to commentators (6 weeks before meeting)
12/8 Eastern Deadline for catering requests (~1 month before meeting)
12/15 Eastern Deadline for commentators to send final comments to speakers (3 weeks before meeting)
12/15 Eastern Early bird registration closes (~3 weeks before meeting)
12/15 Eastern Mobile meeting app released (1 month before meeting)
12/26 Eastern Cut-off date for hotel reservations at group rate
12/31 Eastern Deadline for submitting handouts for inclusion in mobile app (~1 week before meeting)
1/8/25 Eastern Meeting begins
1/11/25 Eastern Meeting ends
11/30 Central Deadline to submit suggestions for invited sessions. submit suggestions for invited sessions. Two calendar years before the meeting (for the 2026 Central Division meeting, submit suggestions by November 30, 2024).
4/15 Central Committees and groups invited to request sessions.
5/1 Central Paper submissions open

2/20/25 Central Meeting begins (fully online over the course of two weeks, 2/20—2/22 & 2/27—3/1)

6/1 Pacific Invitation for chairs and commentators
7/1 Pacific Committees and groups invited to request sessions

2/28 APA Nominations for elected positions on Graduate Student Council close
3/10 APA Nomination materials due from Graduate Student Council election candidates
